How To Wrap Sandwiches In Deli Paper

Wrapping sandwiches in deli paper isn’t terribly complex, but it is an art that may take some practice to master. Wrapping techniques will differ depending on the type of sandwich you’re wrapping.

Wrapping Flat Sandwiches

Wrapping a flat sandwich with deli paper is a lot like wrapping a present. You’ll want to start by placing the sandwich in the middle of a square of wax paper. You’ll then want to grab the top and bottom edges of the paper and bring them up over the center of the sandwich.

Once the edges of the paper are lined up over the center of the sandwich, you’ll fold the edges down by half an inch and continue folding half an inch at a time until the fold is flat against the top of the sandwich.

At this point, the left and right edges of the paper will be the only things left to wrap. You’ll take the corners of the edges on one side and fold them toward the center to create a triangle. You’ll then fold the triangle under the sandwich and repeat the same process for the opposite side.

Wrapping Subs & Wraps

Long subs and wraps need to be wrapped differently than flat square sandwiches. You’ll start by placing your sub or wrap diagonally on a square of wax paper so that the ends of the sandwich/wrap point towards two corners of the sheet. Rather than placing the sandwich or wrap in the center of the sheet, you’ll want it closer to one corner.

Lift the closest corner up over the sandwich or wrap and press it down against the top of the sandwich or wrap. You can then start rolling the sandwich or wrap toward the opposite corner while folding the sides in as you roll. Once the sandwich or wrap is fully rolled, you can use a piece of tape to secure the corner to the wrapped item, so that the packaging stays in place.
